back behind the lens

It's been awhile since I have been behind the camera and I really missed it. I just seemed to hit a dry spell. No creative juices were flowing. Then one day, the creative juice faucet opened up and flowed and flowed and flowed. Being behind the camera is one of my happy places. Our summer adventures at our new old farmhouse provided the environment that I needed to pick

what’s in your dreams

At any given moment, I usually have a handful of books and magazines that I'm reading at the same time. My mood and available time frame dictate what I gravitate to when I take a moment to read. Periodically, something captures my full attention and I stick with it from start to finish, (summer readers take note: "The Doughnut Fix" by Jessie Janowitz and the "Gregor the Overlander" series

the farm shake down

It will be a while before our farmhouse is in shape for us to move in and settle down, but that won't stop us from hanging out there and dreaming about its future. I have spent some time considering what kind of a farm we will be. This isn't the first time that I've pondered this, and I was armed with books and magazines and plenty of brain waves

I can’t say that having an old farmhouse has always been a dream of mine. It was a fun and nostalgic thought but not a path that I found necessary to follow. But there is one specific farmhouse that has been a dream of mine for a few years.

I stalked it.

I crept by it slowly admiring everything about it, even it’s imperfections.

I left a love note for the owners confessing my love.

But the chances that my love and I would find ourselves together in the future were very slim. I lived many states away. It would probably be for sale when I couldn’t do anything about it. It would probably be too much money anyway.

Well, my courting paid off, the stars aligned, my prayers were answered and a pig flew somewhere because that old farmhouse love of mine is a dream come true.

It comes with baggage. It needs a good amount of TLC. It is sure to provide plenty of stories as we begin to make it our family home, our family farm and our family haven.

Jump on the farmhouse wagon with me and I’ll show you around.

Watch your step…

Life’s busy…make moments that matter.
